Free Yard Waste Drop-off Pop-up by FireSmart

The City of Langford and Langford Fire Rescue’s free pop-up yard waste drop-off service is returning for its second year this fall, thanks to continued support from Intact Insurance. Designed to reduce wildfire risk and strengthen community resiliency, the service allows residents to dispose of yard waste at no cost. In addition to free yard waste disposal, the City of Langford Parks Department will be giving away fire-resistant tree saplings that align with FireSmart principles. Accepted materials include pruned or fallen branches, dead plant material, and invasive species such as broom, blackberry bushes, and ivy. Household garbage, construction debris (including lumber), and other non-vegetative materials will not be accepted. To ensure safe and efficient operations, residents are asked to separate chippable vegetation, such as branches and shrubs, from invasive and non-chippable materials, including bulk pine needles, leaves, grass clippings, roots, and dirt.
