Draft. This page is waiting for a legal review and may change before it is final.
The short version
- We keep your email address and some basic analytics. That is all.
- We never sell or share your address. Not to sponsors, not to anyone.
- You can leave in one click, and ask us to delete everything at any time.
What we collect
Your email address, when you sign up for the newsletter. The email service also tells us whether each email was opened and which links were clicked, so we know what was useful.
What you type into a form. If you send us an event, we keep the event details plus your name and email, which are never shown publicly. If you join the advertising early list, we keep your name, business name, email, budget and message so we can reply.
Basic analytics on the website: which pages are visited, roughly where from (city level), what kind of device and browser, and how people found us. We do not collect your name, postal address or phone number unless you write to us and include them.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or share your email address. Sponsors never see who reads us. They see totals and nothing more. We do not buy lists, and we do not add you to anything you did not ask for.
The email service we use
We send the newsletter with Kit, an email service. Kit stores your address for us and follows its own privacy policy, which you can read at kit.com/privacy. Kit is based in the United States, so your address is stored there. Kit only uses your address to deliver our emails.
Website analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits. It works through two cookies, _ga and
_ga_LKCQMPGQN6, that tell a returning browser apart from a new one. Google processes this data on
its servers, some of them outside Canada.
We have turned off Google signals, so our analytics are not linked to Google accounts and are not used for advertising. Google deletes the detailed visit data after two months and the rest after 14 months at most.
You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or use Google's opt-out add-on. The site works the same without them.
Cookies
The two analytics cookies above are the only cookies this site sets. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not follow you from site to site. Your choices on the events pages, like "Free" or "Fernwood", live in the page address, not in a cookie.
Where the site runs
The website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, it keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses, to keep the site running and safe from abuse.
How to leave, or delete your data
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list. No survey, no "are you sure".
To delete everything we hold about you, write to [email protected] from the address you signed up with. We delete it from our records and from Kit within 30 days, and we write back to confirm.
