The Unicorn's Birthday
An interactive Victoria Symphony concert for young families at the Farquhar on October 17, 3 p.m., with an instrument petting zoo in the lobby an hour before. Built to be sensory friendly.
Saturday, October 17 at 3 p.m. at the Farquhar. Musical penguins, monkeys and ducks turn up to the unicorn’s birthday party in a piece written by Bob Singleton, who spent a decade as music director of Barney & Friends, for the Dallas Symphony. The Victoria Symphony bills it as interactive and sensory friendly, so the usual sit-still rules do not apply.
Get there at 2 p.m. for the Instrument Petting Zoo in the lobby, where kids can pick up real instruments and make a noise with them before the concert. Tickets are through the UVic Ticket Centre and are not covered by the subscription discount.
