The BC Django Festival
The Victoria Django Society brings a night of gypsy jazz to the Charlie White Theatre in Sidney on October 3, 7:30 p.m. Guitars, upright bass, and the Django Reinhardt songbook played fast.
Saturday, October 3 at the Charlie White Theatre, doors at 7 and the music at 7:30. The Victoria Django Society puts this on, which means the room will be full of people who can tell you exactly which 1930s recording a given solo is quoting, and you do not need to be one of them to enjoy it.
Tickets are $46 through the Mary Winspear box office on Beacon Avenue. Gypsy jazz is good live music for a night when you want something warm and quick rather than loud.
