Spirited Away - The Music of Studio Ghibli
The Victoria Symphony plays Joe Hisaishi's Ghibli scores at the Royal Theatre on October 30, 7:30 p.m., with Juliane Gallant conducting. The night before Halloween, which is about right for it.
Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Royal Theatre. The Victoria Symphony takes on the Studio Ghibli catalogue under Juliane Gallant, Principal Pops Conductor of the Calgary Philharmonic, who has guest-conducted the Boston Pops and the National Arts Centre Orchestra and has spent a lot of her career on this kind of crossover programme.
It is a Pops night rather than a kids’ matinee, so judge the bedtime accordingly, but the music is the draw either way. Tickets go through the Royal McPherson box office.
