South Island Powwow

The Songhees Nation hosts the fifth annual South Island Powwow at Royal Athletic Park on September 30. Gates at 10 a.m., grand entry at noon, with song, dance, and more than ninety vendors. Free to attend.

The Songhees Nation hosts the fifth South Island Powwow at Royal Athletic Park on Wednesday, September 30, with support from the City of Victoria. Gates open at 10 a.m., the grand entry of Nations is at noon, and the day runs through to 7 p.m.

Between the grand entry and the close there is song and dance, guest speakers, and cultural performances, plus more than ninety vendors including Songhees Events & Catering, food trucks, and 72 Indigenous merchants.

It takes place on the homelands of the lək̓ʷəŋən people on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, honouring survivors of Indian Residential and Day Schools, their families, those taken in the Sixties Scoop, and the children who never came home. Everyone is welcome and it is free to attend.
